WHAT IS Grisactin/Griseofulvin TABLETS?

Grisactin/GRISEOFULVIN is an antifungal. It is used to treat fungal infections of the skin, hair, and nails. This medicine may be used for other purposes; ask your health care provider or pharmacist if you have questions.

WHAT SIDE EFFECTS MAY I NOTICE FROM Grisactin/Griseofulvin?

Side effects that you should report to your doctor or health care professional as soon as possible:

• fever or infection
• unusually weak or tired
• loss of appetite
• tingling or numbness in the hands or feet
• allergic reactions like skin rash or hives, swelling of the face, lips, or tongue
• skin rash, redness, blistering, or peeling of skin
• trouble breathing
• dark urine
• confusion
• mouth sores, white patches
• yellowing of skin or eyes

Side effects that usually do not require medical attention (report to your doctor or health care professional if they continue or are bothersome):

• dizziness
• headache
• stomach pain
• nausea, vomiting
• difficulty sleeping

WHAT IF I MISS A DOSE?

If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you can. If it is almost time for your next dose, take only that dose. Do not take double or extra doses.

WHAT SHOULD I TELL MY HEALTH CARE PROVIDERS BEFORE I TAKE Grisactin/Griseofulvin?

They need to know if you have any of these conditions:

• pregnant or trying to get pregnant
• an unusual or allergic reaction to Grisactin/griseofulvin, Veetids/penicillin, other foods, dyes or preservatives
• liver disease
• breast-feeding
• porphyria
• systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE)

WHAT SHOULD I WATCH FOR WHILE USING Grisactin/Griseofulvin?

Visit your doctor or health care professional for regular check ups. Tell your doctor or health care professional if your symptoms do not improve or if they get worse. Some fungal infections need many weeks or months of treatment to cure.

Follow your doctor's instructions on how to care for the infection. You may need to use another medicine on your skin while you are taking this medicine.

This medicine can make you more sensitive to the sun. Keep out of the sun. If you cannot avoid being in the sun, wear protective clothing and use sunscreen. Do not use sun lamps or tanning beds/booths.

Birth control pills may not work properly while you are taking this medicine. Talk to your doctor about using an extra method of birth control.

WHERE SHOULD I KEEP Grisactin/Griseofulvin?

Store at room temperature between 15 and 30 degrees C (59 and 86 degrees F). Keep container tightly closed. Throw away any unused medicine after the expiration date.

Keep out of the reach of children.

WHAT MAY INTERACT WITH Grisactin/Griseofulvin?

• female hormones, like estrogens or progestins and birth control pills
• Coumadin/warfarin
• barbiturate medicines for sleep or seizures

HOW SHOULD I USE Grisactin/Griseofulvin?

Take this medicine by mouth with a glass of water. Follow the directions on the prescription label. Take with or without food. Take your medicine at regular intervals. Do not take your medicine more often than directed. Do not skip doses or stop your medicine early even if you feel better. Do not stop taking except on your doctor's advice.

Talk to your pediatrician regarding the use of this medicine in children. While this drug may be prescribed for selected conditions, precautions do apply.

Overdosage: If you think you have taken too much of this medicine contact a poison control center or emergency room at once.

Note: This medicine is only for you. Do not share this medicine with others.

What is the shelf life of the pills?

• The expiry date is mentioned on each blister. It is different for different batches. The shelf life is 2 years from the date of manufacture and would differ from batch to batch depending on when they were manufactured.
