WHAT IS Grisactin/Griseofulvin TABLETS?

Grisactin/GRISEOFULVIN is an antifungal. It is used to treat fungal infections of the skin, hair, and nails. This medicine may be used for other purposes; ask your health care provider or pharmacist if you have questions.

Visit your doctor or health care professional for regular check ups. Tell your doctor or health care professional if your symptoms do not improve or if they get worse. Some fungal infections need many weeks or months of treatment to cure.

Follow your doctor's instructions on how to care for the infection. You may need to use another medicine on your skin while you are taking this medicine.

This medicine can make you more sensitive to the sun. Keep out of the sun. If you cannot avoid being in the sun, wear protective clothing and use sunscreen. Do not use sun lamps or tanning beds/booths.

Birth control pills may not work properly while you are taking this medicine. Talk to your doctor about using an extra method of birth control.

WHERE SHOULD I KEEP Grisactin/Griseofulvin?

Store at room temperature between 15 and 30 degrees C (59 and 86 degrees F). Keep container tightly closed. Throw away any unused medicine after the expiration date.

WHAT MAY INTERACT WITH Grisactin/Griseofulvin?

  • female hormones, like estrogens or progestins and birth control pills
  • Coumadin/warfarin
  • barbiturate medicines for sleep or seizures

HOW SHOULD I USE Grisactin/Griseofulvin?

Do not take your medicine more often than directed. Do not skip doses or stop your medicine early even if you feel better. Do not stop taking except on your doctor's advice.

Talk to your pediatrician regarding the use of this medicine in children. While this drug may be prescribed for selected conditions, precautions do apply.

Overdosage: If you think you have taken too much of this medicine contact a poison control center or emergency room at once.
